Primrose, Bluebell, Rose and Honeysuckle are all architect designed newly converted buildings that once formed part of a working farm in the very rural village of Gissing located in picturesque Norfolk. All four cottages lie in the grounds of a Medieval Hall House circa 14th Century.    We are delighted to have qualified for a four star rating from the English Tourist Board and we are confident you will not be disappointed.  The whole complex has been designed for families that may include a disabled member in their party. We pride ourselves on providing accessible holiday accommodation that is able to meet most individual requirements. We have level car parking adjacent to the cottages. Within the cottages themselves, you will find spacious accommodation that has been furnished and quipped to a very high standard. The four cottages have been inspected for the National Accessible Scheme for Mobility and two cottages have been given Mobility 3 Assisted and two have been given Mobility 2.  All cottages have spectacular views over open countryside, where wildlife such as Deer, Hares, Barn Owls, Little Owls and many different species of bird can be seen.   What’s included? Cots and highchairs are available, please bring your own baby bedding and linen. Please bring your own child safety stair gate if you feel it necessary. All other bed linen, bathroom towels and tea towels are supplied, you will only need to bring your own pool/leisure towels. A mobile barbecue can be used in the courtyard outside your cottage. All electric and heating is included. We have a range of equipment to assist the less able guests. An up to date list can be found on our booking form. A local company hire additional/larger equipment and deliver to Norfolk Cottages. We have a laundry room offering a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board, we make a small charge for washing and drying. Norfolk Cottages operates a no smoking policy in all the buildings, we request you smoke outside only. Well behaved dogs are welcome, one per cottage.   What is there to see in Norfolk? The immediate countryside is tangled with footpaths and bridleways, ideal for those wanting long leisurely walks. The village pub is a ten minute walk and serves lunches and evening meals. A country house hotel is a similar distance and has a bar and restaurant open to non-residents. The market town of Diss is only four miles away. An interesting town with many little courtyards of craft and curio shops, Diss also offers churches, Friday market, Antique Auction rooms that attract worldwide bidders for their special interest sales, a small museum, regular farmers markets, pubs and restaurants. Local places of interest include Norfolk Broads, Banham Zoo, Thetford Forest, Earsham Otter Trust, Bressingham Steam Museum (with Blooms Garden Centre next door), Stonham Barns craft and Birds of prey centre. The ancient and interesting city of Norwich with its Castle is only 16 miles. Further afield is Sandringham and the rugged North Norfolk Coast. A 35 minute drive takes you to the coast for the lively seafront at Great Yarmouth or the quieter attractions of Lowestoft or traditional Southwold.   Tourist Information can be found in our Games room. We offer a range of holidays from midweek short breaks, and long weekends through to full week or longer stays.  Honeysuckle sleeps up to 8 whilst Rose cottage sleeps 7, and Bluebell and Primrose each sleep 4. We welcome parties and all 4 cottages can be booked together, subject to availability to help celebrate special occasions with family and friends.   For a really special break, in secluded tranquil surroundings make Norfolk Cottages a place to visit.   Leisure facilities Norfolk Cottages are very proud of our fitness/leisure complex sited within the courtyard. The entire building is for the exclusive use of Norfolk Cottages guests and is open from 7am to 11pm ensuring each party plenty of time to visit.   The complex boasts an easy access 24’x 12’ heated swimming pool, maintained at a higher than average temperature to ensure guests can remain in the pool for long periods of time. An overhead hoist complete with slings is positioned over the pool and the adjacent Hot Spa, providing access for all.A fitness area to the side offers more strenuous stimulation to those with more energy! A Sauna completes the package, ideal for relaxing in after a long walk in the countryside. Bluebell Cottage sleeps 2 + 2. Bluebell Cottage is part of the original Dairy, this single storey bright sunny cottage has windows all around to let the sun stream through. It has good spacious accommodation making it very suitable for wheelchair users. The living room has two large sofas, one a high quality sofabed. A wealth of exposed beams and vaulted ceilings gives an airy feel to the entire unit, underfloor heating, keeps you cosy during the winter months. The Pine fitted kitchen has a low level electric hob, and along with the sink and a section of worktop, have clear space under. The double oven is built in, also at a low height for ease of access to wheelchair users. The kitchen also includes a fridge with ice box, dishwasher and microwave. There is a spacious twin bedroom. The adjacent bathroom has a bath and a separate wheel- in shower; the transfer space is to the right of the toilet. Rose Cottage - Sleeps Seven in 4 Bedroom Accommodation. Rose Cottage: A reconstructed Oak framed barn has been converted into an excellent family holiday cottage. A wealth of exposed beams and high ceilings gives this spacious property a character all of its own. A firm favourite with all family members.   A large pine fitted kitchen diner has a farmhouse feel with all the cupboards and appliances fitted at low level for easy access, it also has a double oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge with ice box. A large pine table extends to seat eight people comfortably.   Double doors lead into the living room, where a log burner sits for cosy winter evenings. A high vaulted ceiling and galleried staircase create a wonderful atmosphere. Patio doors lead to a private decked area, with table and chairs and a view through the orchard and across open fields. A very gentle slope takes you into the grounds.   Rose Cottage has bedrooms on two levels. A winding staircase takes you to the first floor where there is a family suite comprising of a double room with a doorway to a twin room. A bathroom has a shower over the bath (shower is hand held only due to the vaulted ceiling). On the ground floor there is a double room and a single room each with a vanity unit. There is a shared ensuite shower room with large wheel-in shower, a toilet with transfer space to the right of the toilet and a small hand basin.   Rose Cottage has been inspected for the new accessible standards and has achieved NAS Mobility Level 2.  Ground floor. The cottage is able to sleep up to 8 in total and be let at the same tariff as Rose cottage. Honeysuckle Cottage: Converted from a two storey Old Granary Building. This cottage offers spacious family accommodation with a large living /dining room, a red brick floor and original beamed ceiling (still showing the trap door where the grain sacks were hauled up). A brick fireplace houses a log burner for cosy winter evenings, all these features keep the rural charm in the building. French doors open out onto the courtyard and a patio table and chairs. A well fitted Lemon kitchen with a built in fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, dishwasher and microwave keep you feeling at home. A ground floor bathroom with toilet and bath with shower over. The stairs to the first floor are hidden behind a rustic pine door, keeping small children safely downstairs. On the first floor, a double room with solid pine bed, ensuite shower room, a twin room and a room with pine bunk beds are all fitted with built-in pine wardrobes and bedside tables. Exposed ceiling beams throughout this cottage add to the charm of this comfortable family holiday home. Due to 3 of the bedrooms being situated on the first floor this cottage is only suitable for wheelchair users when booked for 8 people.   When booked for 8 Honeysuckle Cottage will include a ground floor twin bedroom with ensuite shower room, the room has direct access to the living /dining room of Honeysuckle Cottage which is suitable for wheelchairs, with easy access to the courtyard and leisure complex through the French doors.   1 double bedroom, 1(2) twin room/s and 1 room with bunk beds, kitchen, 2(3) Bath/Shower rooms with toilet and basin.
